I did some decorating work for Nick at Point some years ago. Although I didn’t speak with him again after, the week or so that I spent there was indeed a memorable one ..we had some wonderful conversations about life and the nature of belief that I’m sure his close friends and family would recognise.. His deep love for life was very evident.. on one day he even invited me to listen to opera with him …. Simply a brilliant experience for a humble decorator to have .. I often thought of him afterwards for his gentle and kind encouragement.. I changed my job (now a mental health therapist ) in part due to meeting this man.
On hearing Maria Callas today and being reminded of him I find that his funeral is tomorrow ! .. I am moved that the world is bigger and more mysterious than we often see around us and that Nick helped me see a little more of this …. God bless you Nick on your onward journey and thank you for the real contact we had.
Whilst I'm saddened at the news of his passing I also rejoice that he lived a long time.
My heartfelt prayers go to his closest dear ones..
